Whether you are planning to apply for the Efficient Living: Illinois Public Housing Authority Energy Program in the upcoming program year or generally interested in what you can do to provide a more energy efficient, secure, and comfortable environment for your residents, we will visit and perform an energy assessment. Apply for an Efficient Living IL PHA Site Visit and Energy Assessment through our online form. This service is funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Illinois Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (EEPS) and is free of charge for federally assisted low-income and public housing authorities in the Ameren Illinois, ComEd, Nicor Gas, North Shore Gas, and Peoples Gas utility service areas.
ENERGY EFFICIENT AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM
DCEO believes that affordable housing must be energy efficient to be truly affordable. DCEO has led this effort through the Energy Efficient Affordable Housing Construction Program initiated in 1988. Under this Program, grants are provided to Illinois based non-profit and for-profit housing developers to include energy efficient building practices in the rehab or new construction of affordable housing units. HUD RENTAL ASSISTANCE DEMONSTRATION (RAD) PROGRAM
The State of Illinois, through the DCEO, has been working to promote responsible energy programs that increase energy efficiency in affordable housing units statewide. Grants through both the ILPHA Efficient Living Low-Income Program and the Energy Efficient Affordable Housing Construction Program are available to RAD projects.
